Cover Missouri Releases FAQ Brochure on Health Care Reform
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, June 26, 2009
ST. LOUIS With one of every eight Missourians lacking health insurance, it’s more important than ever for residents of the state to have a say in the debate on health care reform. Cover Missouri, a project of the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH), has produced a Frequently Asked Questions brochure to help Missourians understand how they can develop that voice. The free brochure explains terminology used in the reform movement; serves as a guide to the basic questions being discussed as part of health care reform; and highlights the differences among types of health care systems.
It is an educational tool not just for the public, but also for care providers, legislators, media representatives and others involved in writing and speaking about reform.
“It’s important to keep ourselves informed so we can help shape discussions on health care change,” said Dr. James R. Kimmey, MFH president and chief executive. “Missourians need to talk to their legislators about the importance of guaranteed affordable choice in health insurance. They must tell lawmakers about the problems they have faced obtaining care, and let them know where improvement is needed.”
